Posters and Demos Competition

Important modification - Deadline is September 23, 2007

Students participating in the LORNET network are invited to submit a poster or a demo of their research activities at the I2LOR (the Intelligent Interactive Learning Object Repositories)  Conference.

Presentation at I2LOR provides an excellent opportunity for students to push their work further, to structure their ideas and to get recognition and feedback from other researchers, students, and partners of the network.

Posters and demos presented may be the work of a team, but the presentation should focus on the student’s understanding and contribution to the project (for posters).

Posters and demos must present original work not presented elsewhere. Those who have had a similar paper accepted in other conferences must enrich the content with new ideas and elements, in order for it to be accepted at I2LOR.

At least one presenter should be registered and present at the Conference.

Poster Competition (open to students participating in the LORNET network)

Size
Maximum Display Space is 42 inches wide X 42 inches tall (either one large poster or several small sheets to fill the equivalent space).

Content
Posters must clearly state the title of the work, and the name of author(s) and affiliation with LORNET partner(s).

What isn't a poster? A poster is not the 6 pages of the complete paper taped to the wall.

What is a poster? A poster communicates visually and textually the key concepts, methods and results of a research project. The overall design should attract attention to the work and its importance while providing sufficient details to provoke discussion with conference attendees. Clarity of the idea and ability to explain the concept quickly and accurately are key. Posters should be memorable. Copies of the complete paper or "brochures" may be handed out to provide additional detail, but hand outs will not be judged.

Jury
Judging of posters will be conducted by a panel of experts, who will view presentation, interview the author(s), and vote for the three best posters based on background, innovation, presentation, research results and discussion.

Demo Competition (open to all members of the LORNET network)

We encourage the presentation of demos or prototypes when possible.

Demos will be placed in front of a poster space 42 inches wide X 42 inches tall, with a table, an Internet connection and power supply. Presenters must provide the computer equipment.

We encourage authors to present also a poster explaining their work, since posters are better able to highlight important aspects of the system and to explain its domain and application.

Jury
The three best demos presentation will be selected by a ballot of conference attendees.

Submitting a poster or demo
